A student at Arkansas State University is being barred from playing basketball because he wants to wear the wrong shoes.
Jerry Nichols , a senior basketball player at Arkansas State, has refused to wear the Adidas sneakers the school provides him because he believes they might be partially responsible for the serious knee injury he suffered four years ago.Nichols has offered to cover the logo on the shoes he wants to wear, but that's not good enough for Adidas. So he either doesn't play, or he risks reinjuring his knees by wearing shoes that aren't right for him. This is not a decision a senior in college should be worrying about. He should be concentrating on life after graduation, not sneakers.
Because Arkansas State is contractually obligated to outfit its team with Adidas, Nichols can't practice with the team, much less play games, unless he relents.
