This is absolutely astounding! The BBC took a poll recently and discovered to their amazement that nearly half of the Britons polled had no knowledge of Auschwitz, the Polish death camp. Of the respondents who were women or under 35, the percentage rises of 60%. I want to know why. Why aren't they teaching this in schools? Why aren't parents teaching their children about the atrocities which occurred in World War II? This should be in every history textbook which covers those years. It should also be in books which cover the reasons why people act this way. There shouldn't be a teenager alive who doesn't know about the camps and the Holocaust. People can pretend it didn't happen, but if they don't learn from history, as the saying goes, they'll be doomed to repeat it. I personally don't want that to happen. This is not just a Jewish thing. A lot of other people died in those camps as well. Gypsies, Poles, Russians, and people of all types who were physically handicapped. These atrocities should never be forgotten. I'll make sure my family doesn't forget.
