Jay Van Andel, co founder of Amway Products, died of heart failure on Tuesday at the age of 80. He and his partner, Richard DeVos, turned a small soap company into a national, multi-million dollar empire.
Richard "Big Boy" Henry, a North Carolina blues musician, died Sunday at the age of 83, after years of declining health. He was awarded a North Carolina Folk Heritage Award in 1995 for his contributions to folk music.
Ralph Blizard, reknowned fiddler, died Friday at the age of 85. In 2002, Blizard was inducted into the American Fiddlers Hall of Fame and received a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship. In 2003, he received the Tennessee Governor's Award for the Arts. He served on the Tennessee Arts Commission for five years and was co-founder of the Traditional Appalachian Music Heritage Association.
