People of Missouri, I have but one small thing to say to you at this point:

I TOLD YOU SO

I warned you on Monday that Proposition A, which lifted the limits on casino losses to increase the money going into the education budget, would go the same way as the lottery. And guess what???

I WAS RIGHT

Check this out:
The money is supposed to go to schools across the state, but that may not be happening at all.

Those in support of Proposition A promised that school districts across Missouri would receive a lot of money. Yet, a closer look reveals that all depends on how the state budget looks next year.

The Proposition A money from casino revenues goes toward total state funding for public schools. And with tax revenue expected to be down across the board, this money may go to help fill that deficit. That means school districts may actually see less money, rather than more funding.

And then there's this little gem:
Another interesting point, lies in the fact that some smaller school districts around here won't see a dime because they're considered "hold harmless" districts. They already receive more funding than what's required under the state school funding formula.

That was a guarantee years ago for smaller districts, so they didn't lose money as they shrunk in population. So this money, won't affect districts like Shell Knob, Camdenton or Climax Springs at all.

As for when this money might come to other districts, it might be 2010 at the earliest.
You people can't say I didn't try to warn you. I have my blog from Monday as evidence. You should really listen to your grandma once in a while.

That felt good. I haven't scolded anyone in a long time. I was getting rusty at it. Just be glad this is a blog. You wouldn't want to see me angry in person. I'd scare the Incredible Hulk. Just ask my kids.
